Google’s New CardBoard App
Google is
famous for bringing out something unusual and surprising every time and it
lived up to its reputation with its new Cardboard App. With just a pair of
plastic lenses, some art with cardboard and the result you get is a virtual
reality handset.
Well it is not
easy to believe but this new app from Google does makes it as easy as it
sounds. You just need to download two apps from Google playstore i.e. Cardboard
app and Cardboard camera. These apps are free in contrast to the apps from
Nokia or other providers which charge you for their apps with similar features.
You can order your cardboard kit to watch these VR ‘s from Playstore. But if you are really the hard working type
and want to build your own kit Google comes to your rescue there also. It has
uploaded the procedure to build the kit. You can get the procedure from below
link Google cardboard
Now after creating so
much frenzy, let’s get into the details of how this app really works.
First you need to download Cardboard app and Cardboard
Camera. It is available on playstore for free.
These images give you a highlight
of what you will experience after installing this app.
After installing the Cardboard
Camera you can begin making your own motion movies. You can switch off the
microphone if you don’t want to record the sound. Now you just need to launch
the camera from cardboard app Portrait mode and start taking a VR photo. Anyone
who has the experience of taking a
panoramic photo can do it quite easily. There just one thing you need to keep
in mind, you must move the camera real slow otherwise you will get a message to
slow down a bit. Also you must move the camera in one direction only. If you
change the direction, you VR photo recording will stop and you need to start
once again.
Thus you get a 180®
view of the recording. Well the elements in the picture will not be moving. It
is basically a stillframe moment but you get the natural sounds of the scene.
With the kit on year head and the headphones in your ears, it will definitely
take you into a different world. There are loads of apps compatible with this
cardboard camera and they have a collection of different VR photos for you to
enjoy. One moment you are on a beach enjoying the cool breeze, the next moment
you are into earth’s orbit enjoying the view from the top.
The images made from this app are
typically 4-10 MB in size. The only thing about this app which is heartbreaking
is that you cannot share this VR’s. There no share option in this app. So you
must hand over the phone if you want someone to enjoy the same scenery you
enjoyed and captured.
This is what the cardboard kit
looks like. Well I think you need to hurry up and get yourself one of these and
experience something like never before.
