Reliance Jio Chat Review

Well in the world of messaging apps there is a new competitor and it goes by the name of Jio. Jio is an Indian messaging app and is developed by Reliance Jio. It has joined Hike, the first Indian messaging app, in the list of Indian apps used for messaging.

Jio is having same interface as Hike with all the options like messaging, video call, sms etc looking similar to
Hike. But there are some interesting smileys and figures with some Indian tadka.
 .

It provides us many options like video call, voice call, messaging, attachments etc. But there is a  new feature in which you can send doodle ( hand made art). This doodle can be anything a signature, a gesture or anything which you can draw.

You can send messages or attach files irrespective of their format which is something we don't get in whatsapp. I tested its voice calling feature and the clarity was good. Though the distance between the phones was not much but still the voice quality was good without much delay. Video calling was also good but sometimes I found that the person to whom we are calling gets a black screen instead of the video feed.

It gets your contact list and call log in its call window directly. So if you are calling someone with Jio it will end up in Jio's Call log only. Some basic features like setting up wallpaper and sharing your location are also available

One more interesting feature is that it provides you with the option of following channels like you get in youtube and facebook. You can follow a channel and you will get updates from that channel if there is any new event in it.

Overall it is a good app and a good competition to other messaging apps. But nothing can be said so soon, we need to give it some time. There are some bugs which need to attended. Many times the app gets stuck and you need to "force stop" the app from settings menu and start again. Also the navigation in the app is not smooth.

If Jio wants to succeed in this competition, it needs to get rid of these minor issues and increase the overall look of the app.
